Jerry Garcia 1968 Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
The original photo was taken back stage at a concert in the Golden
Gate Park, San Francisco, in 1968.
At that time I was working for Saul Zaentz of Fantasy Records, Oakland. I was able to talk my way in to the back stage area.
The sun light was coming from the side and giving Jerry's hair an electric effect.
I remarked that his hair looked electric and he said "That's great! Love to see a print"
At that time I made two 16x20 prints, gave Jerry one and kept the other.

About This Photo.
The original was a 35mm slide. Taken with a Nikon and 135mm lens.
Back at my family's photography lab. (Professional Color Laboratory)
I made 4x5 internegative to bring out the electric hair.
I then made a high contrast black and white kodalith positive,
then a black and white kodalith mask negative.
I used the B+W kodalith negative mask and sandwiched it to the color internegative.
I then placed it between a piece of ground glass and clear glass.
With it now being four layers thick, my focus was on the ground glass, which gave me a sharp print.
These are just a small sample of our many panographs and photographs.
We'll be adding to and rotating these in the coming months. Check back often!
